78 f150 400cid,4 speed was at elevation of 10,000 feet all its life ,moved from colorado to south dakota not sure what the elevation is now ,truck was in storage in colo for 18months put in a battery and it fired right off towed it to south dakota and it will crank all day long but will not fire, i know its getting spark and fuel could the timing be that far off that it wont even try to fire?
if i remember correctly it was timed at 10btdc what should it be for the difference in elevation???thanks billie
usually they will pop or backfire when the timing is off. i guess its possible but i would start by setting it at specs even though the elevation is different. check fuel at the carb just to make sure
i checked for fuel can see it squirt from the venturies when you push the pedal so i know its getting fuel , and i would have thought it would try to pop or backfire aswell but it just cranks, doesnt even act like it wants to fire
Remove the distributer cam and make sure the rotor is turning. Also look for corrosion and carbon tracking inside the cap. Every time mine setup for long periods of time I have to clean the cap up.
When you remove the coil wire does it spark while cranking?
