2000 Expedition Idle issue

Hi everyone, Just traded my 98 Ranger for a 2000 Expedition XLT 4x4 with the 5.4 V8 and 67,000 miles. Problem I'm having is that the truck will not idle up when its cold and will stall. I have to drive with two feet to keep it running until is starts to warm up. Then it will idle around 500 RPM until it reaches operating temp. then it will Idle normally. Anyone know of any computer updates? I'm heading toward the IAC motor sticking any Ideas?
Thanks alot,
Phil

I'd be all over replacing that IAC valve like white on rice.

I am having the exact same problems. As soon as the car warms up it will idle fine and will be ok for the rest of the day but the next morning it is the same thing over again. My husband is in the Army and we are located in Germany for the moment and I have not been able to get this problem fixed and I have been out a great amount of money trying to fix it so if fixing the IAC valve fixed your problem please let me know so I can tell my mechanic to fix that in mine also.

the iac is held on by 2 bolts kind of hard to get to but can be done take the iac out clean the carbon out of it with brake or carb. cleaner and put it back in see if it fixes your issue i did this to my 01 and has been no problems for over two years

Thanks for the help, The truck is actually still under its warranty so I'm going to see what Ford will do before I get into it but I'll let you know the outcome. However I should tell you all that for the past two days its been completely perfect.

I'm all for changing the IAC valve, it is quite easy. Mine did the same thing when cold, and when it warmed up it seemed to work OK, until that one day it wouldn't work at all..........

Driving home through stop and go rush hour traffic with one foot on the gas on one on the brake was no fun

Thanks everyone for your opinions... I brought the truck to the dealer sat. and they convered the repairs. They replaced the IAC (Like we all thought it was) and they also got me another key and replaced my Low tone horn that wasn't working. Truck is perfect now and I"m Loving driving it except for the trip to the pump, but I knew that was coming when I bought it.
Thanks again all,
-Phil
