[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Aug-02 AT 11:46 PM (EST)]I need to know the secret on how to loosen the 1-half inch nut on fan so i can change my water pump also what type of intake and exhaust manifolds are the most like stock and easy to work with aslo also what carb to use stock stuff in bad shape
Howdy, you need to pick up a two part tool from one of your better auto parts stores. One of the tools will fit over the pulley bolts and the other fits on that big fan clutch bolt.
I think all clutch fan threads are reversed (just the big nut holding the clutch, not the smaller bolts holding the fan). That stops the fan from spinning off as the motor runs. I've got a Proto 10" adjustable wrench that fits on mine Ok, then I hold the fan and hit the wrench with a hammer.
Not to change the subject, but I went to the 97 Ford Truck site and what a difference! On this site you guys talk about cams, boring your blocks, putting in new gears on the rearend... real mechanic stuff. At the 97 site, they talk about their problems removing spark plug boots, bitch about their mechanic bills and complain endlessly about how they hate FORD. I may keep my older truck just for this web site. Most of those guys would never consider replacing a water pump or fixing a carb.
