i just wanted to update on my front end clunking on my 01 f350 4x4....i know how difficult it can be sometimes to track down a problem...it can be very frustrating...but forums like this really are invaluable...hearing how other people have solved there problems,or just suggesting ideas, truly is invaluable....a perfect example of this is this damn clunking coming from my"front" somewhere...iam very fussy,so any abnormal noises drive me nuts!....this clunk seemed to be up front at the drivers side, very noticeable when hitting a bump of any kind...i replaced:ball joints/wheel bearings/tie rods/bushings(trac bar ,leaf spring, and stabilizer bar)....you name it,i replaced it...cost me a small fortune(not as bad as could have been thanks to e-bay),as well, countless hours and one hell of a pile of thrown tools(boy was i getting frustrated)....so,i wanted to report, that i found the problem....REAR shock bushings!!!....i got my dad to stand close to the truck as i went forward and backwards over the concrete curb coming into our driveway...after a heck of a lot of back and forth(dozens and dozens!)we found it!...i still cannot believe that that is what it was...i would have bet ANYTHING that the noise was coming from up front, almost under my feet.....the bushings were so worn that they slopped side to side, causing the shock to actually hit the mounting bracket(shocks are only a couple of years old...i put on a set of aftermarket pro-comps...and the truck has absolutely no off roading on them...kinda early to be "shot")....needless to say,i was ecstatic to find the problem...but almost $%^&* off at what it was...just because it was really an easy finew shock bushings in urethane.....15$)....the point to this for me,and i wanted to share with everyone,is definately when it comes to finding these clunks, rattles, whatever it is...you can't always rely on what your senses are telling you....you have to look outside the box sometimes....even though i thought it was coming from the front, knowing that it was obviously a suspension problem,i should have had a closer look at the rear as well....just to rule it out if nothing else....if i had,i would have saved alot of time, and alot of $$$$$....i replaced the bushings, noise is gone, and life is good(lol)....just thought i would share the story.......Brent M
