What is the difference in the offset of the 99 to 04 to the 05 to 08 rims I have a 2003 SD with 16" rims what is the offset? and what is the offset of the new 2007 rims why do I need spacers? or do I because I can't see that much of a differnce and there is so much room around the tires that I can't see an offset being that big of a deal. Thanks guys I need help Mike
The '03 wheel will have more negative offset, so the tire will clear the leaf springs when turning. If you use an 05+ wheel you will need a spacer to restore this offset or the wheel will interfere with the leaf springs when turning.
The earlier wheels ('04 and older) cannot be used on the later trucks. Offset is different and thewhels will not clear the larger brakes.
Newer rims wanted for 2000 f250, but offset got me
I have a question regarding offset. It may have been asked and answered in another area and if so I apologize.
I have a 2000 F250SD 4x4 with 265-75-16 on oem chrome rims. I tried upgrading to a set of 2005 315-75-17 on chrome oem star rims. the front rim rubs my control arm nut and will only clear it with TWO spacers added. I feel this is unsafe due to limited lug grab and want to know what offset i need on a rim.
i know. I wish i knew what the difference was on the 2 rims. one says 16x7 and the other is 17x7.
The basic difference is one is a 16 inch wheel and the other is a 17 inch.
To answer the question about backspacing difference, I think it is just over 1 1/4 inches.
No, stock studs are 2" long. The spacers have there own studs for the wheels and are held on using the existing stud. New lugs for the spacers are provided (typically).
All diameter 05+ wheels require spacers to fit properly on an 99-04 truck.
