Also check motorcycle (chopper) part suppliers. From what I've seen on American Chopper they often use a small chain drive setup between the engine and transmission.
You could adjust the size of the sprockets to change the steering ratio while you are at it.
Big advantage I thought of when I first saw it in a magazine was that it would put the steering column more horizontal and thus the steering wheel more vertical like modern cars, rather than needing a tilt column set to full tilt to get rid of that "bus driver" feeling of the 45* wheel.
I'd bet 1/2 the cost is to cover the product liability insurance premiums...
Hey Ax that's the first thing I thought of when I saw it was the liability factor involved. You know how them ambulance chasing lawyers are nowadays always lookin for a lawsuit, and if there is a real good reason for a suit then all the better. That's the other thing I saw was the ability to get rid of the "bus driver" steering as well, and I thought about changing the ratio. That would be real good if you didn' t have power steering like in a small coupe or something? I'm not ready to start on one yet, but I will take lots of pics and tell how I did it. I have the idea to hide it under the firewall cover. I dont want to see it just have the benefits of having it!
I do not recall if we ever covered this one, but I thought I would link it for those still pondering the use of an offset. The price is a lot lower than the other . Plus, I see that they have an ad for a drop axle for the 48-52
