Would love to help haul it but just dont have the time.As far as getting hay Iknow where there is about 450 rolls@20 a roll here in north La. close to the Shreveport/Bossier city area. Its not supper high quality but would be good for cows.Fyi if you dont get enough email me and Ican get you in touch with the owner of it.
Not to be a downer, but My concern would be with DOT. Transporting commodities across state lines requires USDOT##s,not to mention proper plating for wieght.
Tranporting across state lines only needs MC number unles its for a leases vehicle to a company. Secondly, since there is no way for the DOT cops to tell who the owner of the hay is, you could say its yours, and there wouldnt be a darn thing they could do except weigh you. And thats where we all would get introuble. You start hitting the major freeways, and there are ways to fool those cops due to their own laws, but they arent stupid. All they will do is get you for something else. And if hay weighs 50 lbs a bail, that means legally I could only haul 225 with a 28 ft gooseneck. Not worth it. You guys would be selling those bails for about 6 bucks a bail for me to get what I would need if you bought it for 3.50 Fuel and time and wear and tear. Trucks arent cheap to maintain, we ALL know that...LOL
I have a small 16' gooseneck that is rated at 10400 GVWR So I am in but can't haul much because of volume but can still load around 9k of hay. I would be in let me know. I don't need much money just fuel etc. No profit needed.
Figures, next fuel guy I see when I have my dogs with me, I am going to turn em loose on that guy and tell him to give that message to the CEO of whatever company he hauls for. Bunch of friggin crooks........

Come on Todd, you have to know that we delivery guys have nothing to do with the oil companies. No more than jbhunt drivers have to do with the cost of budwieser,or dish soap.

I keep seeing this "crooks" crap. Why are they crooks? Someone holds a gun to your head and takes your money that is a crook. The oil companies set a price it is your option to pay it. If enough people don't pay it it will come down. The reverse is also true that if enough people continue to purchase fuel at the current price then that price becames the market price.
It is no different then people thinking an OBS PSD is worth worth $15k. It is only worth it if someone will pay the price.
If you don't like what the CEO of a particular company is doing, in this case making profits that increase the stock holders value, all you have to do is buy stock in that company and convince enough share holders that it is wrong to make money on their investment and push the
Board to remove the CEO for one that will reduce profits and earning. Those guys are easy to find. If you decide to pursue this effort, let me know cause it wiil be fun to watch.
Buy a bus pass and park the truck, you won't spend near as much on fuel.
well, i think this would all be too hard to ever get organized. i hate to say it, cause i'm bustin my own bubble. but, if anyone knows of hay less than 55/bale for good grass hay, let me know. please.
BTW-Kentucky lifted all weight and size limits on hauling hay. plus, they are talking about legalizing farm fuel in trucks with farm tags, across nation, thanks to a little call i made. =)
They are crooks. Its a monopoly. Not just for diesel though. Its easier to make than gas. I see what your saying, and its as PC as you can get. I am speaking on reality. Without diesel, my family doesnt eat. Its what we use to power our big trucks. Bio is great, but here locally in central ohio, its .10 cents a gallon more than diesel. WVO wont last long running 11 full size semis all over the country now will it? Third, I would love to see it come down, but we cant do anything about what they charge, its a set market that relies solely on a projected forecast. Reality is the war was supposed to limit oil prices, that backfired, even though I believe CANANDA is where we get the majority of our oil. Atleast thats what the histroy channel said two nights ago. All these green tree hugging punks that have passed laws not allowing us to drill for our own oil in the gulf is killing us. Especially deep water drilling. So my question is this.
If we get the majority of our oil from canada, and our refining is running close to 100 percent 100 percent of the time, wouldnt it make sense to build a few refineries at 2.1 billion and lower the output to 80 percent 100 percent of the time? This would start to allow for things like hurricanes, maint. issues, etc.??
Thus lowering the cost dramatically. Now you can either point fingers at our oil invested Pres, or at lobbyists claiming enviro damgage, but the truth is, that there are too many people in higher places that dont care what it costs. the more they charge, the more they make so they can afford to spend more on fuel.
In your scenario, all I would have to do is become CEO of, O I dont know, EXXON, Overthrow board of directors, monopolize the entire world market of oil, then become president of our great country to lower fuel tax and threaten other countries with embargo, and mandate a fixed fuel price acorss the nation after convincing the house and the senate that this would be a good idea, and keep enough supply to the world so no one else threatens us with violence. Gee, why didnt I think of that? LOL
All I am saying is that raising the price of crude to an all time high, while cutting production back and yielding all time high profits means one thing. The demand isnt as great as they are making it to be. Finally, its a guesstimate on what the oil forecast is. How would you like to have THOSE guys jobs. As I posted earlier, if it takes less than 12 hours to see a jump in fuel prices at the pump when the price of a barrell of oil jumps, why doesnt it come down as qucikly when it drops back to a lower amount? Why do you think it takes a week, sometimes two, and in the case as FUELMAN stated, it wont drop back until after the holidays. ITs what people call price gouging. (Not sure on the spelling Of that word ) Its just on a much, MUCH larger scale. Anywho, I am sure that a lot of people will read this and go, uh huh, and some nuh uh, but I think these statements are pretty accurate, and would love to continue this debate. At this point, I have realzied its more fun to post things here on things your sure about, rather than educated guesses. Now I know why TJ and some of the guys have so many posts!!! LOL
Oh yeah, Joe, I know they dont control the price as a delivery driver, anymore than we control the price of what we ship. Its jsut nice to be able to get a message to someone. I think a few good dog bites would be just what the doctor ordered..LOL
I don't have time to put into this for no profit return at all. I know that might sound un-giving but I have a family that I have to provide for as well. I can't afford to go on long haul trips for basically no profit when I can do it for someone else and make a decent pt. time profit. Not trying to be a jerk, just being realistic.
