I am not sure if I have a transmission problem or what and want to sound half way intelligent when I contact a repair shop.
This happened last week and today. Both times in the morning going to work, when I reach speeds between 60-65mph, my truck seems to have trouble shifting. It's like its sputtering or as if I have hit a rough road. My F150 has an automatic transmission, 6 cylinders. It is NOT a four wheel drive...darn!
This morning when it happened, I slowed down to 50mph and gradually gave it gas to get to 65mph. It still did its sputtering thing, but then stopped.
I experienced no trouble on the way home. My truck has 103,000 miles on it. My trip to work is only 20 minutes. I have to admit, rarely do I let this truck warm up. Don't know if that would matter concerning this problem. This is a new problem that doesn't seem like a big deal...yet...but then again, I don't want to damage my truck or end up stranded.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I hate walking into a repair shop and sounding like an idiot. It seems that's just setting myself up for a huge repair, or phony repairs.
I have a 2003 f150 that did the same thing. The truck would develop a slight vibration at 55 to 65 mph with the trans. in overdrive and low RPMs. Changed the trans fluid and the shutter went away.
