1) If your front driveshaft can turn while your axle shafts do not, then you DEFINITELY have problems in that front differential. Could be in any number of places inside.
2) In 4wd your front driveshaft should NEVER be able to turn without the rear one also turning (they turn in synchronization with each other). If the front one can spin while the rear one stands still then you have a big problem in your transfer case.
all 4 wheels are on the ground
the truck works in 2 wheel and i hear no noises
the rear shaft dose not turn at all
i replaced all the u joints in the axles shafts and the front drive shafts all the u joints are good
What transfer case do you have? Is it a stock transfer case?
The front drive shaft is driven with a chain inside the transfer case off the shaft that drives the back drive shaft.
I could see it if it where the other way around. or if the truck didn't move using the rear.
Is the rear output yoke on the transfer case for the rear drive shaft lose or the spline in it or on it's shaft stripped? But grabs just good enough to make the truck move if you let off the brake?
Even at that it should move if the front shaft spins, check the yoke at the front pinion too.
I think he's got a "half" functioning transfer case... How this could happen, I have no clue. But the fact of the matter is, if he can spin his front driveshaft while the rear is stationary, on a stock transfer case, something is going wrong in there; perhaps its only engaging halfway and giving power to only the front driveshaft... I've had mine apart and I can't think of how this would be possible but who knows. As long as what he's saying is correct, he's got issues in the t-case.
Hoderny, crack open the t-case and snap some pics for us.
Id take a real good look at the yokes and the shafts they are on. Pay particular attention to the the one located at the front end of rear drive shaft and the one at the front end of front drive shaft.
You said you looked at the front differential, did you check the pinion itself? it could have snapped where you can't see it. Sheared all the ring gear retainer bolts? lol
You must have two problems, even if it was snapped the rear would spin and make the truck move?
Shifter bent, lose, not set right only engaging the front drive and not fully engaging front and rear?
