Crackling exaust

any of you fellas suppose that the tune on an engine could affect the crackling of the exaust... it never used to with my 4.6l but now when i rev up my untuned 5.4l it crackles alot as it derevs...not when reving up but when i let out of it....

hopefully i made this somewhat clear.... I have all my cats and a 1-2 flowmaster 50 series

that is completely normal....it is called back rap..and it is the exhaust that has travelled down the pipe...but never got out the end before you let off so as the pressure sucks it back the way it came...it crackles or pops....this is where mufflers and converters come in....they quiet this noise to nothing.

So why would i have this now and not before....is it possible that the extra displacement of the 5.4l creates more pressure or something...

Did your 4.6 have anything different on the exhaust system? ie, headers, cats, larger pipe diameter?

nope.... im even using my 4.6l headers on my 5.4l so that it lined up... the 5.4l headers come out at a different angle.... thought maybe since i dont have my 5.4l tuned up yet... it might have something to do with it...
