Smile Cops

We replaced all 8 cops on my 99 5.4L Exp awhile back. Hubby wants to get rid of the old ones. (We aren't sure which ones are bad.) Thought I would check to see if anyone here would want them before throwing them away. They are the original Motorcraft COPs. Make me an offer. Thanks!!!

well, that sounds like 6 of the 8 are still good. at least for now. the best thing for you to do would be to hold onto them somewhere out of the way...if these new ones start to fail, you'd have something to fall back on.but if you do decide that you really really want to junk them, i may be interested. i'm just nota sure how to pick a price. lets see- 8 coils, 2 bad, the other six that possibly may follow those two out at any time...you tell me what you think theuy are worth, and i'll tell you if i can swing it. but top be perfectly honest- if they were mine, i would have only changed the bad one. aand if i got a great deal on 8, then i would have saved the extra for down the road! your decision. thanks. robyn

Well, we didn't know exactly which ones were bad since it didn't throw a code and we got a great deal on all 8. We are getting rid of them one way or another. Not keeping them.

i don't blame you! i never throwaway anything...and my house looks like it. I don't need rooms, just closets! but, you're supposed to be able to ohm them out, i guess the values for your year would be in your book- whatever ones are different would be the bad ones. doesn't make sense to me- for the life of me i can't figure out how something unpugged would have electricity in it. my husband says it's the resistance. whatever. thanks for the post. best of luck1 robyn

hello 99exp, I was talking to my husband and he says that I should contact you one more time to see if you have not tossed the coils yet, and if not, then to ask you if you thought of how much you want for them? I'm sorry to be so much trouble. I read your whole thread so I iknow that some of the boots are loose, but I also read how that one guy fixed his with electrical tape (thats funny). you can email me at robynmartin6@aol.com, if you prefer. I know I would. thanks robyn

I had someone else ask about them but haven't heard back. The first $25 plus shipping gets them.

dear vze2sgxa...thank you for the warning. I was not asking exp99 to give me or anyone else personal information. I was asking her to email ME with the way for me to pay her. Apparently she knew what to do better than me because she took care of it on her end. I certainly will remember your words of wisdom, and not make that request of anyone, ever again. and thank you. robyn

I think that he meant not to post your full address on the forums. Just give out like your zip but not the street address. Gotta protect ourselves nowadays.

Yes, that's what I meant, and I did not want to offend anyone. Perhaps I'm just an alarmist, but you just can not trust any of your personal info on the internet. I am constantly surprised when I see things on this forum like people posting pictures of their truck with the license plates in full view: My training a 'special' part of the military has taught me that anybody can connect all of the dots that were listed in that email .... please just be careful out there.
