HyperMax H2E

Who knows what about it?
I bought a 'new to me' one a few months ago from a local guy here that blew his motor shortly after installing it (about 3000 miles).
Will I still be able to tow with this turbo? Are EGTs manageable?
Do I need nitrous to spool it in a racing environment?

Bad call getting that turbo. You need to send it to me immediately before you damage your engine.

But seriously, that turbo is for no fooling around power production. Do you have the supporting mods for it? We are talking injectors and big oil. I am sure others will be along but without supporting mods the spoolup will be sloooow.

Yes yes and no.
With the right mods, the H2E is a delightful turbo. I have had one for a year and a half. With stage II singles and a weak oil pump, it was smokey down low(I have a stick keep in mind) I have towed with it many times and i was happy the way it towed. Like i said a little smoke down low but it clears up fast. Its not really usefull unless you have at least a chip and really you need bigger injectors. EGT's depend on your injectors, but being a bigger turbo and moving more air, its way cooler than stock. You don't need nitrous to spool this one up. . . but a big oil upgrade like the BTS or Terminator really really really helps. If it weren't for the fact that I'm sick in the head and love to spend lots of money, I would be totally satisfied with my stage II's, big oil and my H2E fueled by DP Tuner.

Yes stock injectors and BD 50 HP chip, the truck was significantly slower than stock turbo.

So Tim, you agree he ought to send that thing to me immediately, without delay?

Injectors: Swamps "stage three" split shots (they don't technically build a stage three injector but,"for the shear description we'll call them 'stage threes'")
BTS twin HPOPs
Mahle pistons (thanks Jet)
Stock forged rods (cryo'ed)
O-ringed block (also cryo'ed)
DI fuel system (some DIY)
and, of course, a BTS tranny.

A partial list of 'supporting mods'

I've got alot of $$$ into this rebuild, probably should've thought more about destroking, but as a purest, the 7.3 PSD is for me!
All I'm asking out of it is 500 measly horsepower...

After much thought, I think it would be wise just to send that turbo to Tenn(hey man just make sure when I'm in your area next, and you pull me over. . . you gotta let me go )

Hypermax has dynoed multiple engines with stage II single, H2 and stock oil at 450 at the crank. I'll let you know what it does at the wheels with big oil in the next week or so. I'm thinking however, the H2 might be getting a little out of its efficiency range at 500 RWHP.

I'll let you know on that efficiency range thing too. I just know I've kinda maxed my turbo out at 40 PSI, and it takes a lot to go any higher. We'll see what B Codes do. And I really should upgrade the ol intercooler.
Speaking of cooler and I hate to hijack the thread. . . but I think I just heard my teeth chatter. . . maybe I should turn on my heat in my house

I think with that setup you should be comming pretty close...you could always send it in and get it modified. the modded h2e is supposed to be quite nice. and its still towable

His IS the modded version.
I think B codes would spool it better. But I know little to nothing about Hypermax.
The 'good running' H2Es I've seen had much larger injectors pushing them.

My H2E is actually stock. I could get the bigger wheel. . . but Hypermax didn't recommend that for me as I still drive daily. They said is great for truck pulling, and ok for towing. . . but its pretty smoky for towing.

HUMMMMMMM I am confused here...

You have this much work done to your motor and your asking if a H2e will work on your truck???

Tim, I think it depends somewhat on who "modified" H2E it is. There are several different vendors selling Modded H2E turbos (Beans, Hypermax, etc..), with a little different size wheel.

Bean's wheel is smaller than the Hypermax wheel. It's been a while since I looked into this, but best I remember the stock H2E wheel is a 62, Beans is a 66, and Max's is a 71. I plan on going with Bean's modified H2E, as this will still be my daily driver and should be good middle of the ground sizing for my B Codes.
