I just spent over $1600 to have my original 240 rebuilt. I seem to have some sort of vibration that is kind of there at idle, but increases with the raising of the RPM's.
It seemed like a spark knock or a fouled out plug, so I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, and condenser. It seemed to help a little, but it is still there.
How many miles do you have on the engine since it was rebuilt?
this symptom does sort of sound like a dead cylinder. to test for spark problems just unplugg one spark plug wire at a time and run the engine. you should be able to notice a rougher run than before. if one of the wires doesn't make a difference then there is the prob.
I would do a compression check to make sure all the cylinders are doing their job.
I have a very bad drone type of vibration that harmonizes too...on my '79 300. I know my engine is due for a rebuild, but I suspect the vibration to be either from a failing balancer or worn main bearings. How well was your engine balanced during the rebuild? I'd seriously question the party that rebuilt your motor.
