The snow is getting ready to fly here. On all my previous vechicles ( gas ) I always ran some isopropanol in the tank before winter. After that, every tank or two I would add some more. In a bind I would use it straight from the grocery store, but I typically ran the Heet or Stabile(sp?) brand depending on what was on sale. I have been searching the forum for what others run, and have proceeded into information overload ( lubricity, cetane increase, acetone, oil, .... ). Two questions:
Should I normally be running something?
and
What would one recommend for winter?
The local truck repair guy really was pushing the 'Diesel 911' product, but I am always leery of high pressure sales.
most here use power sevice centane boost winter blend(white bottle=winter blend,Grey bottle=summer blend). Its available in wall-mart.It also gives you some lubricity.Wich is now a concern because of the new ulsd.
I'm fairly new to diesels and have one question, when should a person start to use an anti gel additive like Diesel Kleen? At what temp will diesel start to gel?

Mine gelled at -20*F, even with some power service in the tank. But it was after a full fillup the day before, may have had some water in the tank. I was half way to work when it starved until it died. Towed it home and a couple of days later when the temp rose a little, started right up.
