Fast idle cam set-up

85-4.9l Carter 1bl.
I cann't seem to get the fast idle cam to rotate down and engage the fast idle screw. Is it necessary to bend the connector rod until the cam is in the correct position? Thanks for the help on all the other topics guys.

Fast idle cam set-up

Try checking the spring in the choke housing. I've always had to toy with the rotation of the cap to get the choke to engage when I want it to.
