Lesson learned!

Just thought I would share a little story with you all. I recently had to replace a rear axle shaft in my truck due to a failed bearing that wore a nice 1/8" deep groove around my shaft. After installing the new bearing and shaft, tire, diff cover & fluid and making sure everything was good to go, or so I thought, I took it for a test drive. About 1/4 mile down the road I noticed that my truck was transforming itself into a dually minus the second set of rear wheels. Instantly, I knew what I had happened and luckily before my whole axle shaft came out of the axle, I was able to find a place to pull off. Walked back to the house to fetch my tools n got the wife to drive me back. Long story short, before I put the diff cover on I didn't check to make sure either of the c-clips hadn't fallen out which i'm sure you have figured out by now that is exactly what happened. Moral of the story: no matter how sure you are you have done the job right cuz you double checked, triple check cuz you may have missed something.
