351 cid ? W or C

351 cid ? W or C

i have a 77 f150 it has a 351 i was told by the guy i got it from it was a Cleveland someone else said it was a Windsor. the sticker on the valve cover says 351cid and that's it how do ya tell which one it is. W or C ? i have no clue as to what to look for. if any one knows i would appreciate it.

if the valve cover looks like this, it is a 351 W

if it looks like this, it is a 351M

the 351C was not offered in pickups.

No 351W's or 351C's were put in 70's F-series trucks.

351C/351M/400 = 8 valve cover bolts.

Dollars to donuts ! .... you have a 351M

I agree not till about the 80s they put in 351W and never put in 351C in trucks the 70s the trucks got the 351M

A "C" looks alot like an "M" The big differences are the width between the valve covers, and the top belhousing bolts on the M will be almost 8" across, the C will be about 5".

Yes, I know that the C wasn't factory, BUT with 30+ years of previous owners, its anybodys guess what has been done to these trucks.
