turbo questions

I have no experience with turbos but is trying to do my research to better understand them. Say that I wanted to boost a truck (74 EB 302 efi eec-iv S/D) just to get alittle better passing power on the highway. Would 6 psi max. be enough. I've browsed ebay just to get familiar with sizes and specs but I don't understand when it says "capable of 25 psi" and shows a wastegate already mounted. How do you adjust it down to 6 psi? I don't see a removable back cover to replace the spring?

Also would the stock 19# injectors and a higher rated fuel pump with a FMU be the simplest way to handle such a small boost or would larger injectors be needed with an ecm tune? Thanks for any replies.

I dont know too much about the turbos on the trucks but I had a turbo on my 99 Mustang that only ran between 6 and 8 psi but was capable of well over 12... Depends on how much the motor can handle. Once you start getting to bigger boost numbers then internal parts are going to need to be upgraded. As for power, 6 lbs was plenty for me to be able to pass people but then again that was in a 3600lb car not a truck. I also had an electronic waste gate which was adjustable from inside the car. Might wanna look into this. As for injectors, I would upgrade. I ended up going with 42# injectors (which were more expensive then I thought) as well as duel cobra fuel pumps...
And any time you play with major things like a turbo or blower, it is always a good idea to get it tuned right.
