should get a chance tomorrow sometime. anything i should look out for?? the FIL is going to give the guy a call with the 53-6 see whats up with it. i think its a 1 ton, but we'll find out.
It`s hard to remember and explain all the things to look for.
Mainly a few things in general such as oil leaks, they mean lots of $$$ usually. The tires look fair but it`s hard to tell from the pic.
One thing to look for is that the cab, machine body and loader arms aren`t bent or twisted of shape too bad!
I`m mainly worried about the arms/loader frame, it would have taken quite a hit when the trailer rolled depending on the speed it was traveling.
Apparently the truck and trailer was stolen and rolled.
Sounds like there is a $17,000 damage estimate on this Bobcat including bent axle housings.
I did bid, basically the price of parts, less than I was first thinking of bidding.
I can refuse it IF I get the bid and don`t like what I see.
It would be a great help if you have any more info Sherm.
OOuuuhhh Bent axles. Very pricy to fix. I wonder how hard it would be to transfer the engine into my Old Bobcat. Something to think about for me here if you get it and want to part it out.
I still will need some tires for my machine the sidewalls are getting bad and 2 tires have tubes in them. Just a matter of time before the tubes get punctured.

I doubt that would be easy or possible/practical to do switch engines, I believe these are two totally different designs of machines. Even the main drive is set up totally different, your`s probably has a u-joint to drive the hydralic pump and the 763 a drive belt .
As for parting it out I wouldn`t want to go there, too much $$$ to tie up and too consuming with too many possible headaches.
First I`ll have to see if I even get it, it would be of more value to a dealer or someone that has a use for these parts immediately.
Too bad I didn`t know about your Bobcat needing tires Glen, I gave away a brand new set of 4-9.50 X 16.5 tires this spring....
They were truck tires, not Bobcat/skid steer tires but they would have been good enough for your type of work around the acreage.
I was just reading up on the 743 Bobcats. They only made them from 1981 to 1990. SGI says its a 97. Something is not right here.
Yes my old unit is coupler drive which I replaced 2 years ago for a $1000.00. This year a new starter and repairs to injector pump. It still needs some motor mounts they are pretty much shot. So the motor gets the shakes from vibrating on the chasis. I still have to fix the levers for changing the buckets. Previous owner broke one handle , I have a new one. Plus he welded washers over the stems that hold the handles. They are crapped. Next year will fix them, have the parts.
Well I think I rather have the Bobcat tires. I sometimes do some messy corrals. This last weekend on Saturday was called to go dig some grave for 2 horses being put down. Ground was getting pretty hard to dig. Some frost. The horses were sick. One had a brain tumor and the other one was quite old and having trouble waking and standing. So it was time for them. Gave the owner an hour with them after the vet put them down before I covered them.
This SGI Bobcat is a 763:
1997 BOBCAT Stock #: YG7027
MODEL #763, 4388 hrs.
As for the tires they were a military grip design that may have worked well for you and free is alot cheaper than the Bobcat dealer`s price.
My first Bobcat was a 610 with very bald and narrow 15'' truck tires and still worked reasonably well.
well i stopped by it today, my eyes didn't see anything worse than the front of the cab bent up. there isn't any oil pools underneath it, the hydraulic arms look straight, even the muffler was straight. there wasn't anyone there to start it for me, but visually i don't think it's bad.
Yeah the vakues I been seeing online for that year of machine is around 12,000 to 13,000 and some of them look pretty rough. Yet I see some as low as 8,000 and they are in pretty good shape. You just have to travel to get them. I still suspect this machine will go around $8,000.
If anyone gets it. I been told there is a salvage in Edmonton that has Bobcats to forklifts and other tractors. So a person maybe able to gey another cage for the machine. The cages are not that hard to remove. Two good strong boys can lift it off and put another one back on.
