Only the 61 to 65 F100/F250s 4x4 and the 66 F250 4x4 use a 375 Gemmer box similar to the recirculating ball integral shaft ford box. they are integral shaft and will work with the Toyota swap. After this the 66 F100 and up 4x4 steering boxes go to front steer like the 80 up F series.
Wonder if swapping to different seats would get additional room. Saw a set of Mustang front seats w/ center console on ebay, and looked like it could be adapted to truck application, or something simular. Not sure of the bench width of 61-64 seats but perhaps a lower profile bench would provide the additonal room. May be less time consuming than modifying steering setup. Swapped 65 seats, which are fairly narrow in width, and gained some additional space with the lower profile 86 Lariat seats. Anyhow, another option and or food for thought.
Hey Guys maybe you could make it into a Super Cab! You know kind of like the 62 uni super cab flareside on Ebay LOL!!!!!! That would make some room LOL! LOL!
I don't have any problems, try a steering wheel like mine. plenty of belly room. but I too would like to shorten my column about three inches that's my next project. Only for looks.
If you are tall enough, a shorter seat might be a good option, unless that cuts down on your leg room too much. That would put your chest in the steering wheel, though....hmmm....the super cab idea'r would be pretty sweet. Just make it like the new ford pickups, just like half of a half cab, enough room to throw your crap.

You must not still have Armstrong steering. Can't imagine trying to park mine with that wheel. LOL
