Automatic overdrive tranny install
Has anyone ever installed one of the early auto/overdrive trannys behind a 73-79 that originally had a 4 spd? I know I would need to get all of the linkage, mounts, transfer case, etc... but I just wonder if they will bolt to a 300 crank that was originally set up for a manual tranny. Thanks!

Get the flex plate and seperator plate from any AOD application. Any later model I-6 with an AOD can be a doner. The linkage is the tricky part. You absolutely must be able to set the TV pressure to specs or you will fry the transmission is very short order. I put an AOD in my 77 about 6 months ago. One thing to check is the rear end gear ratio. Anything less than a 3.0:1 will lug the engine in overdrive. I am putting 3.25:1 in mine right now, plus a Detroit Locker. 500CFM Edelbrock with offenhauser intake and Hooker supercomp hearders and MSD ignition were also added.
