The ignition lock jammed in my 92 Ranger. The won't budge a bit. I got a new lock cylinder, but can't get the old one out. In trying, I think I boogered it up even more. It's currently sitting in a parking lot. I really need to get the old switch out and the new one in. Any ideas? The steering wheel is locked by the way.
I am not an expert my any means, but have you tried taking the tension off the steering wheel lock by turning the wheel? Could that be part of the problem? Have seen it happen in the past, but dont know if it applies in your situation.

Could be that the brass gear has self-distructed (common) inside the housing, jamming the ignition cylinder in the process. You will have to pull the wheel (with a steering wheel puller), and remove the flange that the ignition cylinder fits into.
Below the cylinder is: a snap ring (3C610), flat bearing (3E700) and that *&^% brass gear (3E717), which is what unlocks the column. The brass gear is the same one the Crown Vics etc. use, and dates back to 1976. Dealers usually carry these parts, for a very good reason.
