I am having a tough time getting my new WD hitch to work with my new V-nose trailer.
It's an 8.5 x 24 foot V-nose made by Frontier Cargo, and there is not enough room on the frame rails to mount the snap-up brackets correctly. I looked under the trailer, and there are no hooks of any kind welded to the frame to hook the WD hitch to, and short of welding brackets to the frame, I have no idea on how to get it to work! Any ideas on how to get this thing to work?
Also, I'm looking for ideas to hooking up a full size deep cycle battery to the breakaway kit to power a winch I may be mounting to the trailer in the future. Any good ways to do it?
I don't know about your WD hitch. But as far has your winch is concerned, a lot of it will depend upon the size of the winch that you will be using. Check the amount of Amps that the winch will be using and then cross reference that with a battery. Also when wiring it up make sure that you use a big enough wire to push all of that juice.
I had a similar situation with my livestock trailer here is a link to what I ended up using http://www.etrailer.com/pc-WDSP~58305.htm , pretty simple to use, hope this helps you out.
Been using them for about a year, so far no issues. I'll definately watch for any issue with the frame, but I can't imagine what it do that would be different from snap ups.
I also have a Keystone VR1 "V" nose travel trailer. I had to move to the equal-i-zer hitch. This has brackets that clamp to the trailer "A" frame which allows your load equalizer bars to rest on an "L" bracket. This is also an anti sway hitch.
My Haulmark V-Nose came with something similar to what is linked to above at e-trailer. Mine were welded on from the factory. Works fine but it does require additional steps to hook up.
1. Attach trailer and truck then secure.
2. Jack up truck and trailer real high.
3. Attach WD bars to hitch and chains to trailer.
4. Lower down trailer all the way down and bars do their job.

Actually this is the process I use. I just choose to do it this way as opposed to useing the cheater bar to lift and lower the saddles.
I can not get the cheater bar to work since the V-Nose is in the way. My Chains hang under the V-Nose.
You need to look at the equal-i-zer. You may go to their website to see how this works..........It is about the only hitch that will work with the V Nose.
