I know this is a transmission question but I've always had such good luck finding info on the Pre-Power Stroke site.
So I have an 85 F250. I pulled the diesel and tranny and just got them back in. Engine starts fine but the tranny is stuck in gear even though my shifter seems to be shifting fine. R N 2 1 all are reverse. What the hell is going on this worked great before I pulled it apart.
Could It be a linkage problem and using all the throw of the shifter only moves it from park to reverse. My c-6 has several bolt and slide linkage points as well as I can remember as one spline and clamp joint on the tranny if any of these have come loose the no matter how far you pull the shift lever it may ony move on spot thus giving you only reverse and park.
just my thoughts
I will check the linkage again but this is the first place I started. I tried a variety of position on the linkage adjustment. This changed the tranny lever position considerably and through several iterations I believe covered the entire sweeping angle of the tranny input. It basically doesn't feel like it's ever shifting out of reverse.
I'm wondering if it's internal but it seems to me that concidering it worked properly before I disasembled the truck it should work properly now.
Does the tranny cooler lines that go to the bottom of the radiator need to be bleed?
