back spacing is the measurement between the flange surface which bolts to the hub and the inner edge of the wheel. a larger offset will set the wheel further into the wheel well, closer to the hub/knuckle.

offset is the measurement between the the flange surface which bolts to the hub and the centerline of the wheel itself.

for my purposes, I need 1/2" to 3/4" extra offset...so the new rims would stick that little further extra out than the stockers
