If you were ever in the kind of wreck that my Wife, Niece, & Nephew-In-Law were in (ALL WEARING SEAT BELTS) when the trooper told my Wife that if she hadn't been belted in she most likely would have gone through the windsheild or side window you would just put your seatbelt on and instruct your passengers to do the same!!!! Just put the seatbelt on-that will turn off the light and dinger!!
there is a way to turn it off. I did it to mine and the owners manual does explain how to do it. It took a couple of tries as you have to be fast with the sequence....

I disconnected the plug under the seat going to the seat belt on my 04' and my dad did the same to his 03'. That will disable the chime and light on 99'-04' models. I am not shure about later years, especailly the 08's
Yes, the procedure in the manual (and lots of places online also) works. I did mine because when I'm hooking up my camper, I'm constantly in and out of the truck. The chime was very annoying. Has nothing to do with wearing my seatbelt (which for the record, I always do...always have). Thanks dkf!
You can Deactivate the Belt Minder two ways. First, you can deactivate it temporarily for your current "run cycle", that is after you have started your car and it's still running. Second, you completely deactivate the Belt Minder so that it never reminds you again, or at least until your reactivate it...
The first method, temporary deactivation, or one time disable: After you have started your vehicle, buckle and then un-buckle your safety belt. Be sure to buckle back up.... This will disable the Belt Minder only for that ignition cycle.
The second method, permanent deactivation: There are 9 steps you need to follow to deactivate or activate your Belt Minder system. Before doing so, make sure that:
* The parking brake is set.
* The truck/car is in Park (automatic), Neutral (manual).
* The ignition is OFF.
* All doors are closed.
* The driver's safety belt is un-buckled.
* The parking and headlights are OFF.
Then follow these 9 steps:
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, but DO NOT START.
2. Wait for the safety belt warning light to go OFF(1-2 minutes).
Steps 3-5 MUST be completed within 60 seconds!
3. Buckle, then un-buckle the driver's safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled.
4. Turn on the headlights, turn off the headlights.
5. Buckle, then un-buckle the driver's safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled.
After step 5, the Safety Belt Warning Light will be turned on for 3 seconds.
6. Within 7 seconds of the safety belt warning light turning OFF, buckle then un-buckle the safety belt.
This will disable the Belt Minder if it is currently enabled, or enable the Belt Minder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of the disabling of the Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light 4 times per seconds for 3 seconds.
8. Confirmation of the enabling of the Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light 4 times per seconds for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the safety belt light off, then followed by flashing the safety belt light 4 times per second for 3 seconds again.
9. After confirmation, the deactivation/activation of the Belt Minder procedure is complete.
That is the procedure that I followed to a tee; however, after step 5, the Safety Belt Warning Light never turns on at all to prompt me to go to step 6. The light never comes on at all during the entire process no matter what I do.
If the above doesn't work...I don't know what to tell you. It worked for me on the second try. I printed the instructions and followed them to the letter. On the first attempt, I must have missed a step or didn't count my "buckle, unbuckles" correctly. the second time...success!

No kidding, gimme a break. When I take delivery of my new '08 the FIRST thing I'm going to do is disable that idiot alarm. The second thing is to disable automatic door locks. If you need an alarm to wear seat belts then you got problems.
