Ranger Questions

Hey guys, I am looking at a Ranger and I have a few questions.

What is different about the suspension setup on the Edge? From what I have learned is: The 4x4 A-arm Rangers use a torsion bar setup while the 2wd Rangers use a coil spring setup. Am I correct so far?

So, what is different about the Edge? I hear people talking highly of them, I am not looking for a used one, just kinda curious. I am looking at getting an 08 FX4. anyone here have any other pertinent information for me? I am a Ranger newbie.

The Edge 2WD models use the same torsion bar front suspension that the 4WD models use. All other Ranger 2WD models use coil springs up front.

Here's some background on the Ranger: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...rticleId=49541

Thanks for that link, helped me figure out the differences.

How do you like your 4.0? Its gonna be a big step for me, I have been exclusively a V8 guy ever since I started driving, I am not gonna get rid of the F150, but its gonna be weird going to a V6 after a lifetime of V8s

I guess, the truck is pretty light and with about 205 HP, it can probably get out of its own way

I test drove a 4.0 XLT last night, and I must say that I was more impressed than I thought I would be. It seemed very solid, road very nice, and was quiet inside.

Well, I'm perfectly happy with the 4.0L. However, the 4.0L SOHC that currently comes in the Ranger is kind of a different animal then the 4.0L OHV "pushrod" version that I have in my '98. But I'm sure that some other people with the SOHC will chime in and give you their opinions shortly.

BTW, the Ranger SOHC is indeed the same engine that comes in the base model Mustang. Some good info on it can be found HERE.

The 4.0 sohc in the ranger has aaa great power to weight ratio, it scoots quite well, the ohv version was no sloutch, it had great torque. The cammer 4.0 matched the torque to some hp for a well balanced engine. The 4.0 sohc has similar hp numbers as the 5.0 powered mustangs, thats food for thought.
