Good luck finding a HD. There is not much for data on how to disciminate which trucks have them and not. I just picked up an engine from the junkyard (valve cover of a 300 HD). Well, I got the head off and measured the stroke and it ended up being a 240...in a 1 ton flat bed. The crank casting number also verified this. Going from a 300 to a 240..rods, crank, and pistons are out. You could use the 300 head on a 240 but compression will be really low. Cam and timing gears will interchange.
