Clearance Lamp Question

Hi all.

I just bought that clearance lamp kit off of ebay that many of you have purchased. I pulled off the passenger side kick panel to access the plug, just to check if the lights were in working order. The plug is there, but however the end on the harness that is suppose to plug into it is bigger than the plug on the truck. My truck is a 2000 F-250 XLT, and I was wondering if this is a harness for a newer model, or is this the harness for the models with overhead consoles? And also has anyone installed this kit on the same or around the same model year truck? I would appreciate greatly any help that can be given. Thanks.

Part number on the harness itself is, 1C3T15A404AA
But the box has a different number which is, 1C3Z15A404AA

This is why I don't recommend people buy these "kits" on ebay. You don't know if you are getting the "correct" parts for your truck and you can get the parts cheaper through one of the FTE sponsors www.directfordparts.com

You might want to try contacting the seller and/or directfordparts.com to find out if the part # is incorrect.

I corrected it. It turns out the guy sent me the wrong harness. He sent me the new one and it plugged right up. Installed the lights last week. Very nice guy to deal with by the way if anyone ever has problems with his ebay kit.

I will try and get some pics on later today. It was really a pretty easy install to do.

Nick I put a few pics of my clearance lights in my gallery. It's really not a hard project to do. Just lay out where you want the lights to go, and step back and look at it 3 or 4 times (that's what I did) to make sure you have everything set up right. After you do then it just comes down to drilling all of those holes. Make sure you have a shop vac near by because it is pretty messy. I drilled my holes with a 7/8 in. uni-bit. And i followed motoman's instructions just like everyone else. I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures of your install.

Clearance lights.

Do your lights sit flush on the roof when using Motomans measurments ??? Where and what did you stand on when drilling the holes. These trucks are tall !!!

Yes and no. The yes part is that the three in the center fit flush right from the start. The two on the outside, they were not sitting flush so i just tore off the foam that was on the bottom of them, and then they were sitting flush. I made sure to use plenty of silicone on the two outside lights as that foam is meant to help them seal to the roof. As for the standing part, I just used an 8 foot ladder and I had the doors open, I just put the ladder up as close to the truck as I could and then just reached over from there. I'm 6'3 so I could reach it no problem, I don't know how a shorter person would fair in using this method. I've heard of people climbing up on their trucks to do this but I didn't want to take a chance of putting a dent in my truck. Hope this helps.

I've heard that also from other posters. I'm wondering if Motoman's measurements are off by a little bit ??? Maybe the 2 outer lamps are supposed to be closer than 13" to the next 2. Is there anyone here with factory installed lamps that can measure theirs and help everyone out ???

I measured my factory installed lights and found the 3 center lights are spaced 8" apart (center to center) and the outer lights are 12-1/2" away (center to center) from the others.

What is the distance from the top edge of the windshield rubber to the front edge of the lamp base ??? Is it the same for all 5 lights ???

Yes, on the f-250 and f-350 single rear wheel superduties the cab lights are an option.
