Sometimes if you start the engine, then shut it down before it gets to operating temps, it will let you know by barfing a little puff of white smoke the next time you start it.
If you rev it up before it's warmed up the engine will then spit a little black smoke at ya.
Are you joking! You described exactly what was happening. This truck a load of suprises. I took it to my mechanic to look at it and it was fine, but one of the COP caps where broke where it bolts onto the motor. That with two broken exhaust bolts i can't wait till I hit a good bump and see what falls off!!!
Those are just spares..... Like a poster over a year ago whose older V10 blew a plug while he was on a cross country trip. He just tied the blown wire off against something, slowed down, and finished his trip. His comment was something like "Its amazing how smooth this engine runs with only 9 cylinders"!
