yes, they can be annoying but even more so when they are not working properly.
In the last few weeks my sensor seems to turn itself on and off at will. The "OFF" light on the switch will will go on anf off while driving down the road (in drive, I'm not a stuntman). Any ideas? Is there a way to disconnect power to them so I don't have to track down the problem?
I cannot seem to get my back up sensors to shut up either, and yes it can be rather annoying on a long drive. Mine are the live models, wife and two kids.
is there a fuse that you can pull?
on my 99.5 they had not even thought about new fangled gadgets such as those so I don't have a wiring diagram.
I would just pop the panel out of the dash and disconnect the switch and see if that stops it.
The fuse for my '01 is #28 (15A) under the dash, but it also controls the vacuum pump, transfer case solenoid, transmission shifting and other critical things.
If pulling the connector off the switch doesn't work, you'll have to trace the power wire to that circuit and disconnect it.
My '03 is having the same problem. Haven't had the time to search for a cause. There is no info in the owners manual about disabling them. May have to go talk to the dealer.
The control module for the parking aid system is behind the back pass side panel. You can disconnect it if the switch doesn't do it. At least you can stop the beeping that way.
I would also check to see if your reverse lights are blinking on and off when the system malfunctions. It could be the reverse switch under the dashboard on the driver's side.
