Lift Questions

So, as some of you are aware, the 2001 Ex that my wife and I just bought came with a lift (8") as I have been told. However, the owner couldn't remember which manufacturer. So I am trying to figure out what lift I might be.

Here are some of the details that I could figure out.
It is on a 2001 Ex (4x4) with 7.3 PSD
Seems to be an 8" (or very close) lift with 38" tires.

Front:
The front leaves are a 10 leaf pack with 4 retention clips per pack (2 in front of the axle and 2 behind).
The track bar is not adjustable and comes with a drop down mount on the frame to match with the drop pitman arm on the steering.
Bumpstops seem to be aftermarket and taller than stock.

Rear:
The rear leaves are a 6 leaf pack with about a 2" block stacked under the stock block (I believe?) and there are only 2 retention clips per pack (1 in front of the axle and 1 behind).
Bumpstops seem to be aftermarket and taller than stock.
There are ladder bars or traction bars on the rear that I suspect don't necessarily match the manufacutre of the lift (red bushings, different from the rest of the components).

Shocks:
It has Fox shocks all the way around, I have not measured or checked the part numbers on them. Twins up front on a shock mount with resevoir shocks and singles in the rear with no resevoirs.

There is no steering stabilizer at all.
Question. I was going to get a steering stabilizer (maybe a double?) and have been told that might help with the little bit of bump steer? I don't usually like to mask bumpsteer with a shock but could it help? It drives good and is no stiffer than I would expect with a large lift on a big truck.

Also, There is a transfer case drop. About 2-2.5".
I would love to take that out, I am guessing I would have to re-shim the rear axle and possibly get a new rear driveline? Or is there a chance I might not have to do 1 or either? Any advice here?

Any advice or insight at all is appreciated.

PS. many of the lift components were powder coated blue/purple. I don't believe they came that color.
Thanks,
Michael

As others have alreadysaid - welcome to the forum. I can't speak to all your questions but a couple of my thoughts: My X is up 6" and I think that is about max to go without having to lower transfer case or changing drive shaft angle on both case and diff. Perhaps someone on the forum has better insite to that than I since I know there are other members here with more than 6" lift. As for the steering stabilizer - I've been running various 4wd's since early 70's and I wouldn't have a vehicle without one if I had oversized tires. Lots of reasons but I think they are good all the way around. With your 38" tires, I'd recommend the double one.

Great looking rig! Enjoy.

I had a 01 F-250 Crew Cab with the 7.3 in it, and I had 8 inch springs on it, with 3 inch blocks in the back and 4 inch hangers in the front, I was running 40 inch mickey on there. I originally bought a single stabalizer, but I then switched over to the double and it makes a huge difference, I recommend you get one. I would leave the transfer case drop brackets on there, otherwise the carrier bearing will make an awful noise. When I first installed my lift, I didn't put mine in, after driving it around the block, I put it in there, it made an insanely loud screaching noise because of the angle, not to mention it will wear out that bearing 5x faster. Got any pics? I just bought an 03 Excursion and I'm planning on lifting it once I get my X-mas bonus. I was thinking about 6 inches, and 36's on 18 x 12 wheels.

Good info so far. Thanks guys.

Anyone have any ideas on what lift it could be?
Who makes lifts for these trucks? I have verified it is not a Donahoe, I don't believe Fabtech makes a 8" for the Ex? What should I try next?

Thanks,
Michael

Looks like a nice lift and x. I did notice in you fourth picture of lifts, that it looks like your missing the bolt on your track bar relocation bracket, near the oil pan. I know thats not the question you were asking, but that bolt should be there.

I know that a shop did the work. So I would be surprised if it was totally pieced together. I do suspect that the rear trackbars were not part of the original lift. I also suspect that the shocks were not standard and were an upgrade but I suspect that the rest of it came as a kit.

With the exception of the front and rear spring clips the packs look like the same manufacturer (not that kit manufacturers actually make their own springs

The bolt for the track bar drop bracket is there, it is recesed in that whole. I assume that the additional hole that is not currently filled is for moving the trackbar up to the stock or alternative position.

I think that bolt is recessed.
