In my 1985 i have no sound or heat insulation at all and i was wondering, for heat purposes could i drill small holes in the inside roof of the cab so i could put spray foam insulation, would i really make a difference?
How do you know you don't have any roof insulation already? I have never looked in there myself (through the factory roof lights) but it would be very unusual if the factory did not have some insulation already in place. Even my 53 f100 had some insulation in it's roof.
A lot of your noise may be coming through from the floor.
the roof would be for heat and there absouluty no insulation in the roof , i might just get some insulation for the floor then im putting a carpet floor in it.
What I have used on the floor is that insulation foil. I buy it from Lowe's or Home Depot, Ace carries it also. It is a plastic foil, that has air space. It is used by most of us RV people in both HOT & COLD climates. I used spray adhesive then put it on the floor of my wife's Dodge when I put in a carpet kit. It made a BIG difference. Before your feet would burn up if driving on a trip. Now we can ride barefoot no problem. I have used this stuff on windows to keep hot & cold out. I had it on our RV this winter and at -20 below zero the windows didn't freeze up. It is cheap also. I believe a 3'x25' is $15 0r $18.
