help please /2000 mountaineer

Car will only stay on if I continue pressing on the accelerator.Any suggerstion on what the problem could be .I had to drive it back home with my foot on the brakes and on the accelerator so it would die on me.

It could be a vacuum leak or your IAC valve.

Pretty easy. Here's a link for the Explorer IAC. Shouldn't be much different for the Mountaineer.

No problem, good luck, and don't forget the gasket. Check to make sure it comes with one. You may have to buy it seperately.

If you have a 5.0 it will be on the right side by a plastic cover that goes over the throttle & cruies control cables.

Make sure the conector is on the left side as you are looking at it from the front. The one I bought was on the bottom and was a little tight getting on because it sits right against the cover I mentioned above.

A new one should rn around $50
