What are you trying to do? Hook up an aftermarket tach or get the original one fixed? The cluster I am looking at doesn't have a tach, but if it did, the tach would get it's signal from the PCM with a white/pink wire.

You might need to call the tach people and see if they make an adapter for the tach to wire in to your van. The PCM is the engine computer, and since it's a van, I will have to look up where it's at.

I could not find a wire for the tach coming from the PCM in the diagrams for the 2001 e450 7.3 van.

I could not find a tach option for a diesel van either, but I could not believe the factory did not have one, so I assumed I overlooked it. I did find how they did it for the trucks and expeditions with the one wire. If you could not find it either, maybe they didn't have a tach option for the vans?
So I might have made too many assumptions about being able to hook it to the PCM. If you can get with the tach people, they may have a way you can hook it to the alternator, or somewhere else with an adapter.
what I'm trying to say is where would the most accessable location be to hook up the tach lead is it on pin 19 at the pcm or can I find it at the wiring cluster ? thanks again

Pin 19 might give the information you need I am not 100% sure, this where it is on a 2001 7.3L Diesel Excursion. But for yours the information is what I posted above.
It says that the wire ends in the harness for your Van, you may be able to dig it out and use it if they used the same PCM as is in the 2001 7.3L Diesel Excursion.
I would say no the signal is not at pin 5 on your cluster, pin 5 on your cluster is a ground wire.
Let us know what you find and good luck.
