fuel pumps
i have a 2002 ford ranger. i had a problem with it not starting. like it was not getting any gas. i contacted a freind who kicked the gas tank, it then started. he said it is a bad spot in the fuel pump. has anyone ever heard of this? it has since been starting fine.

Yup thats a sop test for a pump that you can't hear run.
If you decide to replace it, consider unbolting the bed, tail light harness & fuel filler tube & slide the bed back to access the pump for replacement, rather than dropping the tank.
