After the truck sets for more than 5 days the carburetor is dry and the fuel pump will not pump any gas. I can prime it and it will start and run after that.
It has an Edelbrock performer 750 and Performer intake, new fuel tanks, new fuel pump new fuel lines and new fuel tank vent lines.
If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
I also have an Edelbrock on my `85 460 and it will go dry after some period of time between uses. I have the low pressure fuel pumps in the tanks and need to let the pump run for a bit to refuel the carb before I pump the gas a couple of times and then engage the starter.
Now, I can’t quite remember how it worked before but there is an oil pressure switch in the circuit for the fuel pump. It’s purpose is to cut off the fuel pump when there is no oil pressure such as a stall situation (thus, I think there would not be any current to the pump before the motor was started either). I have bypassed this switch because I know the carb float will shut off fully (ie no leaks there). If you have the same set up you may not have the pump running when you turn the key on (you can hear it if you get down close to the tank) and so the carb won’t refuel.
Find the oil pressure monitor switch and by pass it to keep from having to prime the carb each time.
