OK I've got 2 cats...one is at the Y pipe and the other is a regular big ole cat, I have a clogged y-pipe so I'm having a stock one just put on in it's place...I'm going to then cut off the reg cat and put a magnaflow high flow cat on and just clamp it...my question is what size of an inlet/outlet will I need? Also what type of replacement high flow will I need? 2-way, 3-way, or 3-way + air?(no idea what this means)
This is for a 96' 4.9L.
BTW the reason why I'm just clamping on the high flow because here in Cali it's illegal to put aftermarket cats on a vehicle with a OBD-II computer(96+) so if i get in trouble and when it comes time for smog inspection I'll just clamp on my stock cat again.
Check the archives before you invest too much $$$. I think that someone posted something about a high flow exhaust on the 300 six in the past, and it actually decreased the performance of the engine due to lack of back pressure. :-(
