the stock system comes straight out the side behind the passenger side tire. iv seen some aftermarket companies have there pipes comming out at an angle rather then parrellel to the rear axle. id rather get aftermarket were its parrellel to the rear axle and not comming out at an angle. can anyone provide any company names or links to exhost system that come out perrallel and not at an angle.
pretty much every after market diesel exhaust is 4 or 5 inches. from looking at my 4 inch system i dont see how they could make come out paralle with the rear tire (there is not enough room) unless they put some real tight funky bends in it right at the end
ya man.. just like that... how do you like it? was all that money and work mainly for sound or did it improve anything? I'm all about improving the engines performance but not killing milleage.
i got it from MKO over a year ago for $410 at my door..its a 4"DP 5" strait out to the 6"x18" chrome tip..i painted them with black stove paint to make them last..so far so good... any time you open up the exhaust makes it breath better..you can get all you need with the 4"... i went 5" for the deeper sound you get out of it..sounds mean from 2600 to 2800 RPM's
i eddited my last post, but i do like the look of the pipe commin out the side rather then at an angle. so it looks like MKO will be on Order when i look into an exhaust. 5" as well.
ron, it fit in there without hitting anything when u installed it?
the DP was tight to where the head and valve cover come together..under the passenger seat is a heat shield with 2 long studs sticking down that need to be cut back for the 5" and I pushed my spare back and more to the driver side of the truck...I have a hide a ball goose neck under there and all it went in..hang every thing first to make sure nothing rubs...start at turbo working your way back tightening the clamps..the washers on the hanger may jingle at idle..I just put some form a gasket on the washers to stop that..
Im thinking about going to that wicket wheel too.. Could you tell any difference afterwards?
i cant answer that..i went from the early 99 turbo to the stock 99.5 turbo..i did use the wicked wheel and have yet felt surge..i can also still get 27 to 28 lb boost with red line hooked...some guys say they feel a little faster spool up with the WW and thay have no surge..
turbo surge sounds kinda like a pressure cooker on the stove. this is not good for the turbo...you need to let off the go pedle till it stops or drop a gear..to fix it from not getting surge you can do the WW or a ATS housing...
