Smile new mod, next step

ok fellas, looking for thoughts on my next step of mods, from under $1500

turbo- what benefits with my current mods- any hp benefits.

spearco IC- lower egts, any hp benefits

swamps diesel 20 deg. pump- feeding stock injectors all they can handle

-if i do a garrett bb or TN drop in, i can run up to 35 lbs of boost, but will it do anything to my set up in hp. numbers.

-now, if i go with the pump, im sure im going to be raising egts some, but making up to 30 hp. over stock.

-i like the IC with the big drop in egts since i plan on towing alot over 10K.

With your current mods the stock turbo might only be causing a slight drop in peak HP, but nothing too significant. When I switched to the Garrett Ball Bearing turbo, I didn't gain anything in E/T's. Now if you are looking to add big oil, then yes you'll need to upgrade the turbo or it will live a short life. With additional oil, it's very easy to push the stock turbo well over 30 psi.

It will lower EGT's, how much lower you need is really up to you. I swapped for the 6.0L intercooler and my EGT's easily stay under the 1250 redline whether I'm towing or racing. Keep in mind that I'm at altitude and EGT's typically run hotter up here, so the 6.0L intercooler with stock injectors is a pretty effective combo, especially when running a turbo with a 1.0 turbine housing. For my mods I wanted to save money on the intercooler side, which is why I went with the 6.0L intercooler. However, if you plan on upgrading the injectors in the future, get the Spearco now. The 6.0L I/C is not as effective when you are running bigger sticks.

Stock injectors can handle 3800 psi of ICP. A 20 degree pump can't push that much to split shots, but it will make a nice increase over the stock pump output. A significant increase in ICP will give you more power.

They can handle 40 psi of boost, but will you hit that is another story. At altitude I'm only pushing 27-28 psi with my Garrett BB turbo. At sea level (in Houston), I could hit 31 psi on the same turbo.

-now, if i go with the pump, im sure im going to be raising egts some, but making up to 30 hp. over stock.
Actually higher ICP results in a better fuel burn, less smoke, and LOWER egt's. Yes that's right, you get more power and less bad side effects. Since I put the Terminator pumps on, I have faster times at the track, and EGT's at the end of a 1/4 mile run are almost hitting 1200 degrees.... that's it. I'm not even at redline on a drag run. Also as soon as I leave the staging lights, I have zero smoke all the way down the track. My extreme setting is based off Jody's 140hp smoke tune, and I don't get any smoke... lol.

And you'll see the biggest difference when you are towing mountain passes.

In all the biggest gain in power I've seen (other than adding the DP-Tuner) was when I switched to big oil. It completely changed the way my truck drives, races, and tows. Since you have set a budget for yourself, you'll need to pick what mods will be the most important to you now for your daily needs. Swapping turbos and intercoolers will give you a nice reduction in EGT's, but the HP gains you'll feel won't be very significant. If you plan to go with big oil (or even medium oil) I would highly suggest doing something with the turbo so it lives longer. At minimum change the turbine housing to a 1.0 unit.

ok, but how about water/meth injestion along with a 6.0 intercooler,
ive read the meth adds about 30 hp. also along with 250 deg. drop in egts.
any truth to that, im looking for bigger power and lower egts.
too me, this sounds like a good set up if it brings hp.
Im only looking for these numbers, 350 hp and 700 fptq as I am rolling PMRs and towing over 10k most of the summer.

any other opinions,
id like to do the swamps pump, but dont have the money for a new turbo to go with it, so not sure at this point, Id like the meth injection, but its only temporary hp and egt drop, though that may be all im looking for, so undecided, i hate this PMS, never enough money to do it all. and its hard to do one at a time and not take the full advantage of what your 1500 bucks just bought.

I'd go with a 6.0 Spearco and an ATS compressor housing. Overbudget but just as much as a Turbonetics turbo.

I'm no professional but it sounds like the Water/Meth. Injection isn't the way to solve your cooling needs if you go big oil. If you're looking to build your truck then I say keep saving for the turbo/oil setup. =)
