Is there such a creature?

I have a 89 F150 300-6 manual tranny. The check engine light has been flashing every day for the past couple of weeks. Now it is my understanding that the trucks of this vintage had the OBD I computer. Is there such a crerature as a reader for the "old" system the OBDII readers are all over the place. And the second thing is. Does the OBD I even have a data port?

This site tells you all about your computer system, and how to read the codes without a code reader.

The plug should be by the fuse box that is under the hood on the drivers side fender by the air filter at least thats where its at on my 93. and yes you can by a obd I reader for 30-40 bucks a an auto store. You can also read the codes by making a jumper across the 2 of the plugs then counting the number of blinks of the CEL. The site that franklin gave you should give you all the info you need on reading it your self.

Good Luck
