Flywheel Cracked ?

I have a problem I was hoping someone can help me with. I have an 82 Bronco 300-4spd. I went out to start her up this AM and when I pushed in the clutch and turned the key I got all kinda racket like sometjing was grinding . When I shut it off and turn it over there is no grinding . Also when I engage the clutch all seems fine, quiet smooth etc. Could this be a cracked flywheel or are there other issues that I'm not seeing? Any help on this wpold be extremely helpful. Thanks

The starter might have been stuck or only part way engaged. If this happened and you look at the flywheel the teeth might be broken or shaved.

Sounds like the throw out bearing is shot. My 460's got the same issue, if you depress the clutch while the engine is running it squeels like a stuck pig, release the clutch and it quites down. I quit driving it as soon as it started, I think it could fail bad and leave ya walking...
