Yes congrats on figuring it out

but there pretty much has to be a leak, just have to look harder. look around the resevoir, and follow all the lines

it is possible the whole system was empty when you drove it most wound up in gearbox and lines. even though it sat a couple years it had to leak out somewhere it will show up pretty quick.

Ya went back and filled it up 2 more times and now it works. the whole system must have been empty like you said. thanks for the advise.

How could i figure out the gear ratio in the axel? looked at the tag on the axel and all it was, was letters and numbers that didnt even resemble a ratio? thanks

If you take the VIN # of the truck to the dealer they can tell you all you want to know about the truck

there is a vin decoder on this site somewhere. do you have a tach what rpms are you running at 65 most were either 4.10 or 3.55 the gvw on the tag is also different between the 2 ratios or you can jack it up turn wheel count turns on driveshaft and wheel.

Bottom line of numbers on the tag will start with .10 or .55 or L10 or L55 in most trucks.

.10 or L 10 mean 4.10 and the L indicates limited slip.
.55 or L55 mean 3.55 and the L indicates limited slip again.
