why did you install an E cam. that is a mustang cam and is horrible in a truck. that alone is probably part of your issue. is your bronco mass air? are you still running the stock manifolds and Y pipe?
Normaly the stock heads, and cams keep it below 5k [ok 4k realy] Im guessing you got plugged cats. Do you have a MAF setup??? If not that could be part of it also. Your WAYYY over what the SD system can handle without tuning.
Ditto on the cam choice. Thats WAYYY to much cam for a truck.
Could there be engine damange?? What pistons do you have? The Ebrock heads have bigger valves? High lift/dur cam+ bigger valves+stock pistons=OUCH! Did you check PtoV clearance??
I've been catchin hell from everybody about that cam. I should have done more research. As for the rest, it is a MAF system and I am running stock ex manifolds and y-pipe for now untill I get some more money. The entire engine work has been done by a shop that has been around for about 30years so I would hope they did a good job at checking clearances.
well i would start with the exhaust. my 5.8 will rev to 5500rpms no problem so that 302 should easily do that with those mods. i would pull codes just for giggles, replace the fuel filter, and if that doesnt work then unhook the y pipe from the manifolds and see if it will rev up while driving. or just cut the exhaust right behind the cat after the motor is warmed up mind you and shuv a broom handle in the cat a few times then start motor back up and let it puke all that stuff out. then have a shop weld the pipe back on.
thanks for the info guys, I'll try some of it out. In my earlier post when I said I had the stock manifolds and y pipe I failed to mention I did put a new cat back system. I was thinking it but failed to write it. Sorry.
a cat back does nothing for performance. its strictly there for sound is all. my opinion they are a waste of money. the bottle neck on the fords is the stock manifolds and y pipe. get those opened up and you will see improvments.
whats your timing set at with the spout connector removed?
