Hello does anyone have any sugestions on how to increse low end torque
for a 72 300 HD engine. I am thinking in terms of a N/A set-up rather than forced induction. A 390 CFM holly on a DP offenhauser a higher lift cam (.500 in 260dur) and duel into 2.5 inch single exhaust is what I had in mind. But I'm interested to see if y'all have any better sugestions. Just remember I want lots of ft/lbs and I dont care about rpm's.
What about a 240 head? Bolt on or no? Does anyone make pop-ups for the 300? I would be very interested to know since I am just starting to research this.
I have what your engine could be- It's an HD lower end, with a forged crank, pistons for an F-150, and a ported&polished 240 head. This all breaths through an Offenhauser intake, and dual EFI exhaust manifolds. I really couldn't tell you what pistons to use, as mine was assembled when I got it.
I got this off of a site:
"So what's available for the 240/300ci six from Clifford? Plenty! Five different manifolds--two fours, three twos, one four, one two, and two twos. Cast-aluminum valve covers. Custom-forged pistons. Mallory ignition. High-performance oil and water pumps. Even forged crankshafts. Ultimately, you can achieve 600 hp and 7,000 rpm with a 300ci Ford six. Just imagine the possibilities in your sleeper street car."
