trying to look thru all posts, but too many possibilities..anyway, here goes.
I replaced U joints in 97 explorer...after that bad vibration. Went to the junk yard and got a used drive shaft and put in, vibration went away. I just replaced my shocks all around and now I have a vibration again. It seems whenever I thighten things up, I get a vibration. 97 explorer, 178K miles. I have new front hubs, lower ball joints. Could it be the upper control arms? It just seems strange that replacing u joints or shocks would vibration. Any suggestions?
sorry, I left that out. It gets really bad between 65 and 70. If you really pay attention it is there a little at a low speed. Between 65 and 70 the center console vibrates to the point where I lean on it to stop the noise. The steering wheel has some vibration in it as well. It is rather hard to pin point if it is in the suspension or drive train. If you are on the back roads going 40 you would never suspect there was a problem
We rotated the tires, the vibration is much better. I guess I better get somewhere and have all balanced. It just seemed it was more than that because the new shocks made it worse. Thanks everyone.
