I just wish I had totally blocked off my flow instead of restricting it (1/8" hole). But I think the top bolt screwed my manifold's threads up (or, to be truthful, I screwed them up somehow), so I am very hesitant to change it out for a blocking plate.
But that's great to know that it worked on the earliest of EFI I-6's.
quack, you ought to draw your own conclusion after using the 'Search' function for the Inline Six forum. There are now more than a few posts about restrictor plates, and many are quite recent. You'll find more cumulatively than anyone will answer alone.
Have fun!
The restrictor plate system works GREAT , no hesitations or other ill effects. Getting the EGR off took some prep time, peneatrating oil and time. The pie plate worked good, easy to cut (just don't get caught using the wife's plate. If the top hole is wallyed out, just run a bolt and nut set up. Anyway it was worth the time and effort.

I never thought about the EGR's bolts holes going right through to the other side. I guess I will attempt to totally block the flow sometime soon, and if it strips the threads I'll use a bolt and nut!
I just put a restrictor plate on my 93 F-150 4.9, E4OD. Man WHAT A Difference!!!!! No more surge, hesitation, missing, all the crap that was happening. Took me about an hour total and cut up an old paint roller tray.
And the thing runs like it just got a booster shot of gas. NO MORE LEAN EXTREME! Plus when cruising I don't use as much throttle so I'l probably get more mileage. But then again the holeshots are more than worth no increase in mileage.
Even if you've got a slush box, do this one mod!:-X12
