Been a while since I updated everyone on efforts to rebuild my 50 F-2. Well it's pretty much stripped, at least all the sheet metal and accessories. I've been trying to clean, repair, and ultimately salvage everything possible as I go along so it' and s taken me 3 months to get it down to the frame. Hopefully the cab and sheet metal will get to the body shop in the next couple of weeks and I can start on Engine, suspension, brakes etc. Everything comes off for cleaning, repair / replacement and then reassembly. Will put it back with flathead turning a T-5 trans and 3.50 ratio / 9" rear. Also planning to modify frame for F-1 bed. So far everything is going fine with only a few hiccups here and there. The good progress is mainly due to the great wealth of information and experience that you guys are willing to share. Thanks. As an aside, I going to have a few F-2 specific parts left over from this effort (bed, tailgate, transmission, rear end, rear fenders, runing boards, etc). Some are in good shape, some fair, but all repairable. If anyone is interested, send me an E-mail. I'm located in East-central Virginia.
I would also consider using F-1 front fenders to complete the conversion. I used F-1 fenders on my 48 F-3 and they look much better than the F-3 fenders with the big wheelwells. When you use the smaller wheels and tires you have a lot of space over the top of the tire with the big truck fenders.
Thanks for the suggestion on the front fenders. I'll give it some thought. I'll try to get some pics posted in the next couple of days. I only have one of the truck before I started, unfortunately teh remainder were stored on a disc that got cleaned. Plenty of progress photos, as I take pictures of everything to help with the failing memory when I start reassembly.
