Well I replaced the ball joints, upper and lower, and the idler arm. Now the steering wheel is not centered. How can I fix this or will an allignment take care of the problem?
Second, the brakes worked fine before I changed the ball joints, now it will let the pedal go all the way to the floor. Fluid is good, and I am getting ready to bleed the lines again just to double check I got all the air. If it isn't the air, could this be my brake booster going out?
First off, pump the brakes a few times with the engine off. When you removed the caliper, you might have pushed the piston back in the caliper and it just needs to be pumped. Also, after any front end work you should get it aligned. Do that and it should fix your steering wheel issue(unless you made a boo boo during install)....
you center the steering wheel by adjusting the tie rods. that should be done when you get teh toe -in toe -out set. make sure you tell the guy the steering wheel dont point right and you want it fixed. basically if the toe in is correct, you can turn one side tie rod two turns out and the other two turns in, and the steering wheel will then be moved relative to the tires, and you did not change the toe in.
