I just got done replacing the positive battery cable assembly on my truck. In doing so I screwed something up. The truck starts a fires but then dies you let the key out of the start position.
I think the issue is at the starter solenoid on the fender. What terminals do the additional wires go to. The live wire from the battery goes to one big terminal. The little wire down to the starter goes on the other big terminal. The signal wire pushes on to the little terminal. But what terminals did the other wires go on. I think something is not on the right spot b/c of the way the truck shuts off in the ON position
The other wires should go on the with the battery cable side. They need constant power. But before you do that we need someone to check their truck for sure.
yes one side has the battery cable and all the other wires except the small red wire that goes down to the starter. so one terminal will have a small red wire. then the rest of the ring terminal wires go to the other terminal (battery wire, starter cable, and a few fuseable links)
Test in run possition. See if pcm/idm is live.
Maybe it cracked from being overtight.
Just WAG's

Ok so I verified that there is voltage at the glow plug relay and the power distribution box. Not sure which wire to check at the PCM and IDM to see if they are live.
I am also not sure how overtightening the nut on the solenoid would impact anything because all of the additional wires are hooked directly to the battery cable.
You might have blew the fuseable link (12 gauge).
Some times they will just break when disturbed.
From the outside it looks good, but may not be. Test with your light or VM.
If the fusible link is burned you may have some serious wiring problem....but if it just broke...no big deal. Fusible link is a short section of wire that has a smaller diameter than the rest of the circuit. You don't need to go to Ford for replacements. Some auto part stores carry them.
